This weekend our family celebrated my Mom’s birthday with brunch, cake, and presents. My sister-in-law made a checkerboard cake for the occasion. Unfortunately, my niece decided to taste test the dessert before the party even began. Her cute little hand print in the cake made it even more perfect. As her gift, my sister-in-law decorated a bird cage for my Mom. Her present was not only adorable but incredibly thoughtful.
Lets begin by setting the mood with this cute little song. Thank you Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt for your rendition of What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?
This year, I traveled up to Boston to have a Sister New Year’s Eve. Our night was spent in French bohemian style at our favorite bar, The Beehive. We celebrated with food, drinks, cotton candy, a live band, and burlesque dancers. I hope that everyone enjoyed their NYE as much as we did. If last night was any prediction of how 2012 will be, then I cannot wait to see what this year will bring.
How did you spend your NYE?
As family tradition, started nine years ago, we eat Chinese food on Christmas Eve. I always look forward to our Christmas Eve meal. Each year my family usually makes an event out of this dinner, but my little niece was not feeling well so we opted for take out. Though we dined in, our feast was just as fun and delicious as the past nine years of this tradition.
I spent the day with my sister-in-law, nephews, and niece baking cookies for the holidays. We were cookie making machines; baking five different types of treats in five hours. Next…gingerbread houses!
